Bringing Music to Life in SLV

Crestone Performances has been a non profit since 1999, producing the Crestone Music Festival and supporting SLV youth and musicians. Currently under new direction and hosting new members on the board, Crestone Performances is experiencing a revival.

Crestone Performances is currently focusing on bringing educational opportunities to music learners of all ages, work to local musicians, and bringing in quality musical performances and teachers to support the growth of our musical community. We are proud of our Youth Grant Program, that provides instruments and lessons to middle and high school students, offers a youth open mic, and we plan to continue bringing multicultural musical acts to the schools. This longstanding non profit intends to bring a new vitality to the music scene in the San Luis Valley through all ages education and multifaceted inspiration.

Alixe Landry - Board Member
Crestone, Co

Alixe is a late-blooming musician who had early exposure to music in the form of piano lessons as a child and playing guitar as a teen. It was many years later when her full passion for music ignited and she picked up the bass guitar at the age of 50. Her skills rapidly improved thanks to the guidance of her mentors at Swallow Hill Music in Denver and the life-changing experiences obtained during her annual visits to the Victor Wooten Center for Music and Nature in TN. Six years into her adult musical journey, she started a 10-piece funk band in Denver, with the goal of giving other intermediate level musicians a safe space to explore music together. By the time Covid hit two years later, she had purchased a keyboard with the goal of exploring music theory concepts she had been exposed to at Vixcamps in TN. With Covid putting an end to the funk band, she turned her attention to the keyboard. She discovered — because of the knowledge she had absorbed playing the bass — she was able to create music without having to read sheet music. This sparked her passion for teaching music as she wanted to share these ideas with others to help get them started on their musical journey. Since moving to Crestone in 2022 she has been the bass player for the Groove Wranglers and is currently playing bass with the Kosmos Band and other local bands, as well as teaching bass and piano.
